whiter than sky: sky
Qu’s video-installation whiter than sky: sky is a hallucinating loop consisting of permanent zooms into black and white photographs that depict his late grandfather.
Avoiding any direct figuration, Qu focuses our attention solely on the white skies of each portrait, leading the camera on a slow wander through a continual fog of light pixels. The viewer experiences a void-like sensation, a feeling of being sucked into a White Hole.
Staring into the void, the timelines of memories blur and concepts of space-definition are rendered useless.
